Are your Childhood Target Payments Correct?
Childhood immunisation target payments are becoming an interesting topic for practices across the country as problems are starting to occur. While these may seem insignificant at first over time these payments can build into significant amounts and with the ever growing strain on practice finances it is important that these are not missed.
What’s the Problem?
We are beginning to see various issues with the payments ranging from late payments, incorrect amounts being received and in some cases payments not being received at all.
The issue is not due to incorrect or late submissions, but appears to be a problem during the processing of the forms and in some cases these forms being rejected and resubmitted with different information, on the practice’s behalf.
What errors have we seen?
As medical specialists we regularly process practice accounts and some examples of the errors we are finding are:
- Claims being completely missed
- Claims appearing on the main contract statement on Open Exeter but the target payments being deducted from the balance due.
- Vastly reduced target payments compared to submissions
- Timing issues with target payments being paid late, as they should be paid in June, September, December and March.
Is there a solution?
When submitting the forms, ensure that there is no missing information and that all boxes are complete. We would also recommend that you check your previous quarters so you can see any trends and query any oddities accordingly.
We would also recommend checks are put in place to ensure that you are receiving the correct payments on time and in line with what you would expect.
The above problem is one of many faced by practices and with large changes to financial reporting and NHS funding is important practices keep accurate and up to date financial records.
