Why did you choose a training opportunity/career with MHA Chiks?
When the opportunity to take on a role as tax trainee within the Blackpool Medical Department came up, I chose to take up the role after a very positive experience working with the team on a taster afternoon. The role offered me both tax and accounts experience, all within a specialist sector.
Can you describe your job role on a day to day basis?
My job role varies daily depending on the time of year as well as the needs of clients. I start the day by checking my emails and replying to any queries from clients; this can set the precedent for the day’s work if a specific query is urgent. Depending on the time of year, I can be working out at clients preparing the year end accounts or in the office preparing tax returns. As part of my role, I deal with clients from both the Nottingham and Blackpool office which allows me to build relationships across the firm.
What do you enjoy most about working at MHA Chiks?
MHA Chiks gives me the opportunity to expand my knowledge into a specialist area which I find very interesting. With a constantly evolving healthcare service, there is always something new to research and apply to my job. The office environment is open which allows us to work well as a team and build strong working relationships creating a positive environment for everyone.
How has MHA Chiks helped you?
MHA Chiks has allowed me to build my confidence in a professional environment as well as expand my knowledge. I have gained experience of various types of entities which allows me to turn my hand to lots of different areas. MHA Chiks have allowed me to complete my ACCA qualification as well as continually look for ways that I can move forward with my career.
What are your goals for the future?
In the future I want to continue to build my experience of dealing with clients as well as the bespoke elements of the sector. I would like to continue with my studies to give me the best opportunity to progress.
What advice would you give to somebody starting at MHA Chiks?
Always be open to the opportunity to learn new things; it will aid you in all aspects of life!
