Accountants quiz night donation for the Will Clark Fund
July 9, 2013
Over 40 local professionals took part in the annual Chiks quiz night held at Carus Green Golf Club in Kendal which included firms such as Barclays Bank, NatWest, Temple Heelis, Handelsbanken, Lloyds TBS and the Lakes Hospitality Association. The quiz night raised £431. Temple Heelis won the quiz.
The proceeds will go to the Will Clark Fund, a charity set-up to support Will and his family.
In July 2012, Will, aged 27, had completed a charity swim in Grasmere when he and three friends set off to cycle around Thirlmere. A stick caught in his front wheel and he fell from his bike. Tragically, as a result of the accident Will sustained very severe neck and spinal injuries and is now paralysed from the shoulders down.
Gavin Clayton, honorary secretary to The Will Clark Fund, said: “I want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone’s support through the quiz night. A massive part of our objectives with the Will Clark Fund is to provide hope to Will that he can lead a fulfilling life despite his extensive paralysis and reasons for him to stay mentally strong to keep going. Knowing that there are so many people who care is a great boost.
“Also, we wanted to be able to help the Clark family by assisting with respite care and allowing them time to recover. The Fund has already helped pay for adaptations to Will’s home to accommodate his daily needs, with a wetroom, ceiling mounted track hoist, and access ramps.”
Colin Johnson, a partner at Chiks, said: “Will and his family have had a very difficult time and we are grateful to everyone who took part to raise money for a hugely valuable cause.”
